Dahlia season truly will begin here in just a few weeks. Mike will be bringing his dahlia tubers out of storage and planting them. He does this in February so that the tubers have time to make lots of little plants. Each tuber generates several cuttings, each getting a nice headstart towards being early bloomers, instead of just autumn bloomers.
Want to know how he does that in a zone 5 garden? I did hold out one piece of information. That would be …. We have a basement with lots of lights! More details to come as spring arrives at our house in about 2 weeks.
